The role
As the Operations Manager at MPB you'll be a leader with a strong focus on cultivating excellence, ensuring the success and high performance of operations by providing unwavering support to teams, thereby enabling them to excel daily. You'll actively facilitate the execution of business plans and drive both growth and operational performance. Driven by a fervent ambition, you'll motivate team leaders to cultivate a supportive and motivating work environment, igniting continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability as agents of change. Moreover, you'll prioritize fostering connections across departments, promoting diversity and inclusivity. Through empowering teams and employing data-driven decision-making, you'll drive improvements by ensuring insightful progress.
What you'll be doing
- Managing daily performance of operational teams through supportive leadership, fostering positive relationships and empowering team members to develop professional skills.
- Supporting rollout/implementation of new operational workflows/processes, communicate benefits to teams, and conduct weekly 1:1 meetings with Team Leaders for guidance and alignment on operational objectives
- Responsible for tactical resource planning for the day/week/month and communicating resource requirements and backlog management in daily reports
- Liaising with the Global Resource Planner to understand resource requirements and manage direct reports' holidays and staff level
- Taking ownership and reporting on daily performance, including monitoring staffing levels
- Preparing weekly performance reports, analysing past performance, and drive a culture of improvement in tracking and reporting to identify areas for enhancement
- Serving as the primary point of contact for all operational inquiries and concerns, ensuring a thorough understanding of all department procedures, and identifying opportunities for process enhancement
- Monitor Slack channels and oversee Team Leaders' handling of requests, intervening promptly to ensure timely resolution of operational issues
- Communicate issues effectively to facilitate prompt resolutions and advocate for culture and regional-global alignment to support operational staff.
- Taking ownership of the interview process for Ops alongside Team Leaders, providing guidance to TLs on candidate selection and actively participating in interviews.
- Collaborating with the People Team to resolve cases involving OPS teams, including assisting with managing underperforming team members and Performance Improvement Plans and mediating operational issues
- Maintain high standards of workplace organization and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines, including ownership of warehouse security processes.
- Implement and enforce security protocols to protect company assets, inventory, and personnel, collaborating with stakeholders to address concerns and mitigate risks.
- Conduct regular security audits, serve as the primary point of contact for security-related issues, and coordinate responses and resolutions as necessary.
What you'll need
- Proven track record in operational leadership, effectively managing and inspiring teams of team leads
- Supportive people-focused leadership style, embracing new challenges with enthusiasm
- Cross-departmental operational management experience, fostering collaboration.
- Strong analytical skills for performance reporting and continuous process enhancements, including spreadsheet and Google Docs proficiency.
- Problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders.
- Experience in recruitment and people management, including conducting interviews and collaborating with the People's team.
- Sound knowledge of security protocols and workplace safety standards.
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
