Senior Engineering Manager
Ready to lead, inspire, and shape the future of engineering at MPB? Join us and help build the technology powering the world’s leading platform for visual storytellers
📍 Location: Brighton (Hybrid)
💖 Department: Technology
📅 Position type: Full time, Permanent
We are MPB - the world’s leading platform for photographers and videographers to buy, sell and trade used photo and video gear. With offices in Brighton, Brooklyn (New York) and Berlin, we’re reshaping the way creatives access gear, by making it more sustainable, affordable, and accessible.
As part of our next phase of growth, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join our high-performing, collaborative tech team and play a key role in shaping the future of MPB’s engineering function.
The Role
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll drive both the technical delivery and people leadership of multiple cross-functional squads within our six-squad portfolio.
Partnering closely with our VP of Engineering, you’ll balance short-term delivery excellence with long-term strategic transformation - particularly as we embrace the opportunities presented by AI.
Your focus will be on building empowered, high-performing teams; driving consistent technical standards; and delivering scalable, high-quality products that enable MPB’s continued global growth.
This is a senior leadership role with visibility across the business - offering the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our engineering culture, delivery model, and technical vision.
What You’ll Do
Lead multiple engineering squads to deliver consistently against product roadmaps and non-functional requirements
Partner with Product Managers, Agile Delivery Managers, and Lead Engineers to ensure delivery is predictable, collaborative, and aligned
Set and enforce consistent engineering standards and quality expectations across teams
Support architectural consistency and codebase health alongside our Architecture and Lead Engineering community
Act as a visible champion for modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and testing tools
Mentor and develop engineers and emerging leaders through structured development plans
Drive technical hiring, workforce planning, and succession development to build organisational resilience
Represent MPB’s engineering culture internally and externally, helping elevate our brand as a destination for world-class engineers
About You
You’ll bring a blend of technical depth, people leadership, and delivery excellence. You know how to balance innovation with execution and can inspire teams to deliver great outcomes.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Proven experience leading multiple agile squads in a fast-paced environment
A strong technical foundation and the ability to engage credibly in architectural discussions
A track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams with a focus on trust and continuous improvement
Solid understanding of modern engineering practices - CI/CD, test automation, observability, and cloud-native infrastructure (e.g. GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform)
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
Experience adopting or driving AI-enabled engineering practices (highly desirable)
