At MPB, we’re transforming the way people buy, sell and trade used photography and videography equipment. As the world’s largest platform for used camera gear, we’re making kit more accessible and sustainable for creators around the world.
We’re looking for a Head of Finance to join our growing Finance team in Brighton.
This is a pivotal leadership role within MPB, acting as the operational backbone of the Finance function and a key member of our wider senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the VP, Finance, you’ll lead the day-to-day integrity of financial control, compliance and reporting across the group while helping shape the future capability of Finance as MPB continues to scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong technical finance expertise with a people-first leadership style and a passion for continuous improvement, automation and operational excellence.
What you’ll be doing
As Head of Finance, you’ll lead the operational delivery of the Finance function across reporting, compliance, financial control, audit and process improvement.
You’ll manage and develop a high-performing Finance team while acting as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders across the business, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insight.
You’ll also:
Own and lead MPB’s financial control framework, ensuring strong governance, compliance and reporting standards across all entities
Lead, coach and develop a team spanning reporting, tax, accounting and finance projects
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement and capability development
Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
Lead relationships with external auditors and support smooth, well-governed audit processes
Ensure tax compliance and payroll oversight across multiple jurisdictions
Partner closely with the VP, Finance to support board reporting, operational delivery and strategic priorities
Drive process improvement initiatives across Finance, with a strong focus on automation, scalability and AI-first ways of working
Standardise and improve financial workflows to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk
Build trusted relationships across the business, helping improve financial understanding and commercial awareness
Collaborate closely with FP&A and wider business stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting and business performance
What we’re looking for
You’re an experienced finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys building strong, scalable finance operations.
You’re equally comfortable leading people, improving processes and getting into the detail when needed. You combine strong technical accounting expertise with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
You’ll bring:
Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams
A proactive and hands-on leadership style with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
ACA or ACCA qualification
Significant experience in a senior finance, financial control or controllership role within a multi-entity business
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience operating within complex group structures
Experience owning month-end and year-end close processes to a high standard
Experience managing external audits and compliance processes
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insight
ERP system experience, such as NetSuite, Oracle or SAP
Advanced Excel skills
A strong interest in process improvement, automation and AI-enabled ways of working
It would also be great if you have:
Experience working within eCommerce, marketplace or online retail businesses
Exposure to international expansion, M&A activity or periods of significant business growth
